24 hours in the country is good for the soul!!

Once in awhile the hubs I have a hillbilly bone that gets an itch to head to the country.  Six years ago we bought some land off of a family member and built a little "cabin".  It really looks nothing like a cabin.  It sits in the woods on about 10 acres and we lovingly refer to it as "The Cabin".  We have also referred to it as the "Red-Neck Yacht Club".  That is fitting.

This property is 2 hours from our home and is like a get-away for anyone that visits.  It is a very slow-pace, laid-back atmosphere.   It doesn't require the hair to be done or make-up to be applied.  (but, if you know me at all....THAT would never happen... nor would anyone living with me want THAT!!!  Promise!!) This is a place that you can wear shorts with "farm boots" and no-one cares.  Fashion is not a high priority at the cabin,
neither is healthy food.  It is a HUGE news headline that this little town now has a Subway restaurant.  It doesn't have a traffic light but, fresh-made-sandwiches-with-your-choice-of-bread, it does.

Since we designed the cabin, our then 13 year old son drew the plans, and we had it built....I thought you would like a glimpse into our country life.
The Loft
The Loft Bath...

Sunroom with the best "nap couch" ever!

It's gonna be a bright, bright, bright sunshiney day.... someday... but, not THIS one!!!
Please excuse the poor picture quality from my phone (again, camera fairy...I'm still dreamin'!)  When you are in the country little things like high-speed wireless is but a distant memory of home.  I just as well carved out this blog on a stone tablet for the length of time it has taken me.  The Mi-Fi is dial up!!!  I can hear my kids echo with the question, "What's DIAL UP??
I just know you all have been sitting on the edge of your seats wondering what I did today. ;)  If I haven't bored you all into oblivion and you're still reading...............bless your little hearts!!!

It's been one of THOSE weekends!!!

So happy to be sitting on the other side of this weekend.  *deep sigh*

Poor hubs has spent a weekend of pharmaceutical heaven and dental emergencies from he**.
I sure hope this comes to an end for him soon!  I would make a TERRIBLE nurse.  Oh, where did my baby girl get the nursing gene from??  (I was not an English major, deal!)

Crappy happening #2.... my dryer quit!!!!!  Perfect timing on a Saturday morning.  I will move on from that one.

On a happy note..........I just have to share some products that I have been using for the past few weeks and absolutely L-O-V-E!
This is the 3rd tube I have used of this product and am so impressed with the results that I just had to share it with someone.  I didn't purchase this product for my eyelashes.  I purchased it for my 1990's, over-plucked eyebrows.  It works!!!!  Woot, woot!!  (also used on lashes).  I haven't used the other eyelash renewals such as Latisse etc. but, I do know it is by prescription only and is really pricey.  Rapid Lash is on sale at drugstore.com for $34.95.  Score!!!  Worth it.  (not receiving endorsement deals, just passing along a great product)
Also, another fave...

I have Kim Kardashian lashes now.  Need I say more???

Crappy happening #3..........I am allergic to the beautiful duvet I purchased for my spring re-do last week.  Who knew I was allergic to goose down?!!  Not me!!

Update on my lapse in judgement

Last week I blogged about my Spring Spruce ups in this post:
Weeeeellll, I have to update you on the progress of the transformation for spring.  I received my shipment from Pottery Barn that contained most of the bedding I ordered.  Some was damaged by UPS!
Here is a rundown of the "event".  After an HOUR it was something like this:

WHO thought a duvet cover was a GOOD idea??
And then this...
Found THIS on hubs nightstand.... says a lot!
TaDaaaa!!!
Waiting till the end of MAY for the custom headboard!!!!  Whatever!!!  Hope it's Fabulous!
This lil guy loves nice bed linens.  He only likes my side of the bed.  However, within 24 hours, I had the need to pull out the baby wipes to do a little spot treatment on the dog bed fine linens.  I might have made a mistake with the all-white-thing.

Can I just say, ANYone that sounds like Rod Stewart should never get kicked off of American Idol!!!
And, on another Random note (hence the name)...
I'm soo proud of my daughter!!!!!  She worked the night shift last night at the hospital.  She was called in on a code! My non-medical self thinks that means "heart stopped". Yikes!!  FIRST for her.  SHE gave chest compressions to the patient.... all 95lbs of her!!!  Cracked the patients ribs.  So proud of her first rib-cracking-compression-giving-self!!!!!!  Seems like a scene right out of Greys Anatomy....

Motherhood is not for wussies!!!

Sometimes, does your heart just weigh heavy because of a decision you or your family member is contemplating?  The "baby boy" will be making a decision soon on the college he will be attending to continue his pursuit of a bachelors degree.  He has been attending a jr. college for the last two years.  (At least that's HIS story... we think he attends)  This college is about an hour away from home.  He also plays on the college baseball team.
He's the catcher!
When I'm feeling an overwhelming need to pray for my children and am at a loss of how to pray, I pick up this book.
Here is just an excerpt of a prayer on page 55 of this book.  (In no way do I claim this to be my own writing)
"Lord, I pray that he will love Your Word and will feed his soul with it every day.  Speak to his heart and breathe life into every word so that it comes alive to him.  Teach him Your ways and Your laws and enable him to do the right thing.  I pray a silencing of the enemy's voice so that he will hear Your Holy Spirit speaking to his heart.  Give him a desire to live Your way.  You have said in Your Word that when someone turns his ear away from hearing the law that even his prayer is an abomination (Prov. 28:9.  I pray that he will never turn a deaf ear to Your laws.  ......I pray that he will exalt You, love You enough to put You first, and serve You....I pray that he will align his will with Yours."

I have prayed this prayer several times this week for BOTH of my babies.  These words said what I was feeling even better than I could communicate.
"Only God can give you the wisdom you need about these things.  And He will give it to you when you ask for it.  But first you have to understand and believe that when you pray about your adult child, God will hear and answer.  Prayer is not telling God what to do.  Prayer is partnership with God to see that His will is done.  You don't have to fully understand what God's will is in order to pray that His will be done. ... You can't change anything, God can change everything."

I can't even express the many emotions that come with children leaving the nest.  Even more so when they have to make "big-girl, big-boy" decisions.  This is such an exciting time in their lives.  You can't help but feel oh, so proud of them but, at the same time fighting back tears.
Pardon me while I dry off my laptop.
You NEVER stop being a mother!
I bet that feels more like a "sentence" to a couple of  "adult children" that bear my last name...

Mama He's Crazy....Crazy Over Me...

Today *deep sigh* has been a "taxing" day!!!!!  (sorry for the over-use of punctuation!!!!!  I tend to do that often!!!!)
Today my patience has been "taxed" along with my wallet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
To escape this sucky day the hubs suggested a ride in the convertible and a stop at Starbucks for Cake Pops.  First day out for the convertible.  The 73+ temps were perfect for that specific activity.

My hair looks exactly the way I feel.  I added the 3 lb cold sore just for drama and emphasis.  The eye bags were a bonus item.  And that's just all I'm gonna say 'bout that.

I received the BIGGEST blessing from my hubs.  It may not seem like ANYthing to anyone reading this post.  The words went something like this:
"Sweety, you go rest and let me fix dinner!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"  WHAT?????  Did I just hear angels sing??  At this point in my day I wouldn't care if it woulda been a Ball Park Frank.

BUT...............................it was a lean-perfectly-seasoned-grilled-outside burger and a side of roasted butternut squash.  UH, HUH!!  He ROCKS!!!
He's CRAZY over me, I think.  The feeling is mutual ;)

Transformation Tuesday and Spring Spruce Up

For" Transformation Tuesday" I am transforming my .... *drumroll*... boudoir.

I am a huge, HUGE fan of "before's" and "after's".  I don't care what the subject matter is... home makeovers, hair makeovers, furniture re'do's, wardrobe makeovers, plastic surgeries, weight loss transformations (ok, not so crazy about this one... probably envious, if truth be told).  Ok?  You get the idea.
Well, I have a "before" of my bedroom.
Please excuse the picture quality as I used my cell for this.  A good quality camera is on my "gift registry".  (I keep a running registry in my head at all times.  It works for me... occasionally!)
This is an especially attractive picture with the oh-so-bright glow of the ginormous tv that MUST be displayed in our bedroom.  Oh, I mean, boudoir!!

With Spring approaching, hopefully by JUNE, I get antsy to do a little sprucing up in the nest.  I like to change out the dark, heavy accents for the "springy" accents.  I'm a little over the bedspread and 261 pillows that are currently on the bed.  I am WAAAAAY over the headboard.  You probably can't see it in this high-quality digital image but, it is an iron/metal... or something of the likes, headboard.
Here is a close up image:

It is a pretty piece but, my problem with it is that the pillows fall through the slats.  It isn't so much a  "sit-up-in-bed-and-read" kinda headboard.  Or even a "sit-in-bed-and-watch-tv" kinda headboard.  Because 1/2 of this old married couple doesn't really even pick up a book.  Namin' no names, jus sayin'.
SO..........today I ordered this beauty to replace the not-so-friendly headboard:
I had it upholstered in a Natural Linen.  It is from ballarddesigns.com and is a total indulgence on my part.

I then proceeded to order this bedding from potterybarn.com:  Monogrammed, of course!  I have never had anything monogrammed.  It confuses me with that big letter in the center.  I mean, how do ya know what order those letters are suppose to be in???  I really went out on a limb with this!  The good thing is that me and hubs have the same initials.  Works!

For the life of me I'm not sure what kinda lapse in judgement I have had.  This is the current activity that goes on in my bed.
If you are having trouble viewing this image it is two of the cutest Brussels Griffon puppies on this planet.  Reagan is mine (3 yrs old) and Rilee is my daughters dogdaysofsinglelife.blogspot.com and he is 1 year old.  They tend to get tuckered-out and need to crash in style.  Not just any bed will do!  I really don't blame them.  I'm kinda high-maintenance like that.  ;)

I can't wait to show "ya'all" the "afters" in "7-10 business days".  I swear I've been hangin' with this girl clark-clan6.blogspot.com way too much.............I'm now saying "ya'all"!!!!

On a side note...If my hubs reads this post it will be the first he's heard of this bedroom re-do.  If not, I have 7-10 business days to prepare him for the excitement that awaits.
